Juveniles Charged for Wellington Burglaries

Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Wellington Squad deputies have identified two male juveniles, ages 14 and 17, as suspects in four burglaries at one business in Wellington.  The overnight burglaries occurred between May 23 and June 15, 2017 at Les’s BBQ & Smokehouse located at 7670 5th Street.

On June 15, 2017, at about 1:15 a.m., deputies responded to reports of suspicious activity in that area and contacted a male juvenile.  They learned a second male juvenile had fled on foot prior to their arrival.  The investigation led deputies to the second juvenile and all the property stolen from the business, except food items.

Deputies met with the district attorney’s office and the following allegations were accepted for each juvenile:

Second Degree Burglary (Class 4 Felony);
Theft (Class 2 Misdemeanor); and
Criminal Mischief (Class 2 Misdemeanor).

Deputies would like to thank alert citizens for reporting the suspicious activity and encourage everyone to do the same.  The Wellington Squad would also like to remind juveniles and parents of the Town of Wellington’s curfew ordinance.  The curfew applies to children under the age of 18 and is in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Friday through Saturday.  Additional information regarding the Town of Wellington Municipal Code and Ordinances is available at http://www.townofwellington.com/148/Municipal-Code-Ordinances.

The charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until, and unless, proven guilty.
