SUBJECT: Motor Vehicle Accident
DATE: 01/14/2010

A Larimer County Sheriff's deputy located a vehicle parked in a turnout on County Road 56 near Taft Hill Road just after midnight on January 13, 2010. After the deputy made contact to check on the welfare of the individual, the vehicle sped off. The deputy followed the vehicle to Highway 287 but did not immediately initiate a pursuit. When the vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed, the deputy activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle. It was approximately one minute from the time that the lights and siren were activated to when the vehicle went off the roadway. At that time the patrol vehicle was approximately two to three hundred yards behind the suspect vehicle. Preliminary estimate of the vehicle's speed as it left the roadway is 100 miles per hour.

The driver of the vehicle was Tristan Cuddon, 091690, of the LaPorte area. It was discovered that Cuddon's driver's license had been revoked for alcohol violations and that he is currently on probation . A small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle. Colorado State Patrol Colorado is assisting the LCSO by conducting the technical accident investigation. Information on Cuddon's medical condition will not be released by this office.
