The Larimer County Investigations Division is under the command of Undersheriff Ern Hudson.

The division is broken down into Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property, Lab/Evidence, and Criminal Impact Unit. There are a total of 33 employees assigned to this division.

The Crimes Against Persons Unit is staffed by one sergeant and four investigators. This unit is responsible for investigating all felony crimes involving reports of sexual assaults, sexual assaults on children, kidnapping, physical assaults, robbery, officer involved shootings, and other homicide investigations.

The Crimes Against Property Unit is staffed by one sergeant and eight investigators. This unit is responsible for investigating all felony crimes involving theft, burglary, criminal impersonation, forgery/fraud, arson, and other related property crimes.

The Lab/Evidence Unit is staffed by two criminalist and three civilian personnel. This unit is responsible for responding to all major crime scenes for the purpose of documenting, recording, and analyzing evidence. The unit is also responsible for cataloging, controlling, and maintaining a chain of custody involving all evidence and property that is turned over or seized by the agency.

The Criminal Impact Unit is staffed by one sergeant, one corporal and four patrol deputies. This unit is responsible for conducting investigations into street level narcotic crimes, drug interdictions, fugitive apprehensions, sex offender monitoring and other specialized investigations.

The Investigations Division also offers polygraph and computer forensic services.
