Individuals applying for employment with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office must go through a thorough pre-employment selection process.

Convicted felons or individuals with recent drug use cannot be considered for employment.

All applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age (21 years of age for Patrol and Detention Deputy positions.)

For all positions, applicants are required to successfully complete prior to hire:

1. written examination
2. integrity interview
3. oral board interview
4. background investigation
5. medical testing
6. drug testing

In addition to the above requirements some positions may also require

1. simulator testing
2. polygraph examination
3. psychological evaluation

Applicants for Patrol Deputy MUST possess one of the following:

1. COLORADO PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS AND TRAINING (POST) Certificate
2. COLORADO POST Conditional Letter
3. COLORADO POST Provisional Letter
4. Letter from COLORADO POST Academy Director stating graduation date

Detention Deputy I	$24.25-$33.95
Detention Program Specialist I	$16.56- $23.19
Detention Services Specialist I	$16.56- $23.19
Emergency Communications Operator I	$16.56- $23.19
Patrol Deputy I	$24.25 - $33.95
Sheriff’s Services Technician I	$14.26 - $19.97
